The Most Dreadful Disney Cruise
Line Vacation Of My 63 Years

by T.Feraro
(Missouri)

Albeit I am one who never complains, but rather simply does not return to a bad experience, knowing of the quality the Disney had represented in my past I thought it important to inform your offices of the worse vacation of my life.

I left Port Canaveral last Friday and returned on Tuesday this week. I expected a true Disney experience, because of my past experiences with Disney Cruise Line in the 80's and Disney resort trips over the past 30 years with my (now) grown children.

You see having been blessed over the years, making it back from the Vietnam era, a poor background, and tough life, and finding myself doing well in life as an adult, I thought it was time (7 years ago) to give something back by adopting an orphan, and I further decided along with my wife to give our newest child an opportunity to appreciate and enjoy the Disney experience.

2 years ago we took her to Disney Orlando, and rented a suite at the Beach Club for 8 days. The experience as in the past with my older children was magical. So we decided again to try Disney and take the cruise.

This proved to be a great mistake, and indicated that in 2 years the quality, professionalism, and caring of Disney has deteriorated substantially. A 4 day cruise, that ended in disaster and brought me to the conclusion that never again will we go to a Disney sponsored function.

Friday night we arrived and walked around the ship, then had dinner. We took our daughter to bed at 9pm. Banging, loud music , cursing, and loud talking came from (we know not where) at 3am we finally called security, who attempted and after 2 more hours located the suite.(next door to our quarters on deck 7) Guest services apologized.

Night two, same as night 1, and security could again not fully appreciate the issue and took 2 hours to locate the same inconvenience. At 3 am, the noise stopped, and guest services called MY room to apologize and ask if "I" wanted to consider being downgraded to a lesser room in order to get away from the inconvenience???

I said “Why should we be punished for some other inconsiderate families (adults) actions”. They stated there was nothing else to do.

Day 3 of a 4 day cruise, it started at about 8pm, and I again ,immediately called security and guest services. Finally and I do not know how, the noise , music, cursing, etc. stopped and did not return. But as you can appreciate, it was too late the vacation was basically over.

In addition, the Food quality was at best adequate, pool side was average as far as cleanliness, and appearance, and the activities were limited. Especially considering that the day at Castaway Cay was rained out and there was no back up activity on the Ship. (very odd).

Now let me discuss the bus ride from the Port to the Airport in Orlando. Traveling 70 miles an hour on the highway, the bus driver did not obviously see traffic stopped ahead,(from an accident) until about 50 feet from the traffic stop, when the driver veered off the road on 2 wheels onto the grass, and stopping approximately 100 yards later. Again no apology, comment etc.

I did receive a plate of 4 strawberries during my stay as an apology. (thank you) and I must say that two individuals on staff, Alex (Server at dinner) and Slavin (asst. server ) tried to make up for the horrible experience by going above and beyond in their duties. If it were not for them it would have been even a worse experience, if you can imagine that.

Now what am I looking for? NOTHING, but being a Executive who specializes in turning failing and troubled businesses around, and further being a concerned and loving parent, I would not want this type of experience to come to other families.

So please do what is right , professional and prudent in bringing attention to this submission.

Respectfully,

I'm sorry that your Disney cruise vacation was such a bad experience for you.

It sounds like the inconsiderate family next door was the demise of your evenings and not so much Disney Cruise Line but I do agree that DCL should have absolutely had a quicker response time to address and fix your complaint.

You are a better man than I am sir because I would have put up with it for about 10 minutes and I would have been knocking on their door :-)

If you haven't already I would write or call Disney and explain to them your issue.

I do not discriminate for or against Disney so I will put your post up as I would any other.

It may help or it may not :-)

So Un-Disney Like

It is too bad that you had such a bad experience on the Disney Cruise.

Typically I hear all the fun stories - but every once in awhile I hear about a trip gone wrong.

I guess it is good for keeping everything in perspective.

I haven't yet decided whether to book a trip with Disney Cruise Line or not - but this is food for thought.
